All You Need to Know About the Clitoris Transcription:

Hi. This is Elizabeth with Beyond the Bedroom and I’m here to share with you today’s version of Fun Friday Sex Facts. Today I’m going to be talking all about, yes people, the clitoris! For those of you who don’t know what this is called, let me pull back the hood of my vulva puppet, it’s the clitoris. Alright, I have some fun facts to share with you. Did you know that the etymology of the word clitoris is actually Greek for the word ‘key’? Huh, that’s a key to remember! It’s a clue as to how much potential pleasure this little button gives. There are more than eight thousand nerve endings in the tip of the clitoris and that’s twice as much as found in the glands of the male penis. The sole purpose of this pleasure button is exactly that: pleasure. It serves no other function other than for a woman’s pleasure. It’s not required for reproduction– it’s pleasure only. There 50-70% of us women need to have clitoral stimulation in order to achieve climax. Most of us do not climax with penetration alone. So remember, the key to all this is the clitoris. The clitoris comes in many different shapes and sizes, it depends on the different women. Some of us are hidden, the clitoris is hidden under the hood; some of us, the clitoris is there just looking, staring at you straight in the eye; and only about a quarter of the clitoris is visible. There’s a whole network that runs deep into the cavity of the woman. We have as much erectile tissue in the clitoris, the clitoral network, as the erectile tissue in a man’s penis. So there’s a lot that doesn’t meet the eye that we should be– that we, ourselves, or our partners can be stimulating to bring the full clitoral network onto the field, into the game, shall we say. The last fun fact that I found out was that the clitoris grows throughout a woman’s lifetime. But the clitoris just keeps getting bigger and bigger and bigger for all of us. So I hope you’ve enjoyed today’s version of Fun Friday Sex Facts because it’s all about the clitoris. And let’s make sure not to rub the urethral opening, but stick with the clitoris, because rubbing the urethral opening, while it may be pleasurable for very few women, that can cause all types of urinary tract infections. You want to focus up and on to the big magic button. Thanks for listening, have a great day.
